Ramadan 2027 with Being Humanitarian

Ramadan is the month the Qur'an was revealed — a month of fasting, prayer and generosity, when every good deed carries greater reward. It is also the month many of us choose to give our Zakat.

We treat every donation as an Amanah, a trust we are accountable for. Our teams on the ground deliver your gift directly — food packs to families who break their fast with little, hot iftar meals, clean water and urgent relief where it is needed most.

Give your Zakat and Sadaqah this Ramadan, and let your generosity reach the people who need it most.

Zakat is a pillar, not a favour

Zakat is an obligation and an act of worship — a right the poor hold over our wealth. We distribute it in line with Islamic guidelines to those who are eligible to receive it.

Not sure how much you owe? Our calculator works it out in a couple of minutes.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Healthy adult Muslims fast every day of the month from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink and bad conduct.

It is a time for drawing closer to Allah through prayer, reading the Qur'an, reflection and charity — and for remembering those who go hungry not only for a month, but every day.

When is Ramadan 2027?

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on the evening of Sunday 7 February 2027, with the first fast on Monday 8 February. It is expected to end on the evening of Monday 8 or Tuesday 9 March 2027, depending on the sighting of the moon.

When does Ramadan start?

Ramadan begins when the month of Sha'ban ends and the new crescent moon is sighted. Like every day in the Islamic calendar, it starts at sunset — so the first night prayers (Taraweeh) are held the evening before the first fast.

When does Ramadan end, and when is Eid?

Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days. It ends with the sighting of the Shawwal moon, and the next day is Eid al-Fitr — expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027. Because the Islamic calendar follows the moon, Ramadan moves about 11 days earlier each year.

The last ten nights

The last ten nights are the most blessed of the year. Among them is Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months. Giving a little on every one of the last ten nights is a simple way to make sure your charity falls on it.

Ramadan and Sadaqah

The Prophet ﷺ gave generously all year round, but his giving increased in Ramadan.

“The Prophet ﷺ was the most generous of people, and he was at his most generous in Ramadan.”

Narrated by Ibn Abbas — Sahih al-Bukhari 6

He also taught that whoever provides iftar for a fasting person earns a reward like theirs, without the fasting person's reward being reduced in the slightest (Sunan at-Tirmidhi 807). A single food pack or iftar meal this Ramadan can bring you that reward many times over.

Frequently asked questions

How long is Ramadan?

Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, depending on when the next new moon is sighted. Its dates shift by roughly 11 days every year because the lunar calendar is shorter than the Gregorian one.

What does Ramadan Kareem mean?

Kareem means generous or noble. “Ramadan Kareem” is a greeting that welcomes the generous month — a time when Allah's mercy, forgiveness and reward are abundant.

When can you eat during Ramadan?

Muslims eat a pre-dawn meal, Suhoor, before the Fajr prayer. The fast is broken at sunset with Iftar, just before the Maghrib prayer.

Should I give my Zakat in Ramadan?

Zakat is due once your wealth has stayed above the Nisab threshold for a full lunar year, so it isn't tied to Ramadan. Many Muslims choose to set their Zakat date in Ramadan for its greater reward. Use our Zakat calculator to work out what you owe.

What if I miss a fast?

Missed fasts generally need to be made up after Ramadan. If you can't fast at all for a lasting reason, such as chronic illness, Fidya may be due instead. Rulings differ between schools of thought, so please ask a qualified scholar about your own situation.

Where does my donation go?

Your donation goes to the appeal you choose in the form. Our teams deliver food packs, iftar meals, clean water and emergency relief directly to families in need, and we report back on the impact of your gift.
